Sport and Recreation Plan

Blayney_Project-01

Do you get active in Council parks or sports grounds?

Blayney Shire Council is committed to developing and implementing a Shire-wide Sport and Recreation Plan (SRP) to provide a framework for health and fitness for the Blayney community.

The project is aimed at optimising opportunities for sport and activity for the local community, through the use of Council parks and facilities. Council has engaged the services of Place Design Group (PDG) and Western Research Institute (WRI) to undertake extensive consultation, research, and development of strategies to help Council deliver this plan.

All people play sport or recreate in some way. It’s an essential channel for socialisation and inclusion in communities, crossing all ages, abilities, addresses and backgrounds. It is an ally to health and well-being and brings a wide range of benefits to individuals, teams, communities, and even whole regions.

Ultimately the plan will provide strategies for the future use, management and development of sport and recreational facilities across the Shire, ensuring effective and efficient funding and delivery actions for Council and its resources. Most critically the plan will be developed in alignment with the needs and aspirations of the Blayney Shire community and will aim to be a mechanism by which a recreational network is created that provides easy access to formal and informal recreation, in turn inspiring the Shire to be active and healthy.
