winter_wonderland_logo-800x360

23 June - 30 July

Once again Winter Wonderland activities are planned across Blayney and Villages kicking off from Saturday 23 June with the Winter Solstice Festival on Gladstone Green, Newbridge hosted by the Newbridge Progress Association.
Now in its 4th year, local businesses, producers, tourism providers, local services, community and school groups are invited to come together as a community to promote your business, local produce and services by decorating your premises, providing special customer offers, hosting a special event, offering promotions by joining Winter Wonderland festivities this winter in your own special way.

The aim of the Winter Wonderland event is to encourage people to buy local, attract visitors to the area and bring locals together to socialise, embrace the season and discover what Blayney Shire has on offer.

Blayney Shire Mayor, Scott Ferguson said the aim of the Winter Wonderland event is to work with community groups and businesses to encourage people to buy local, attract visitors to the area and bring locals together to socialise, embrace the season and discover what Blayney Shire has on offer.

“Winter can be a magical time in the Blayney Shire. The weather may be a little cooler and we often get a dusting of snow but the warm welcome from our community hosting local events and activities shines through,” Councillor Ferguson said.

Newbridge Winter Solstice Festival
Saturday, 23 June from 12 noon

This festival brings the community together for day of medieval fun, magic, food and music.

Family-friendly event with something for everyone including street markets, musicians, viking sword fights and Morris dancers to entertain the crowds.

A community bonfire kicks off from 5pm on Gladstone Green at the Newbridge Hotel for the burning of the wicker man. It is tradition to throw a small wicker doll into the fire to cleanse the bad energy and start anew.
