CentrePoint Cashless incentives and 6 month trial period introduced

Whilst the overall operating efficiencies of moving to cashless payments at CentrePoint Sport & Leisure Centre from 1 September makes business sense, we understand the issues raised and questions asked by some members of the community.  Please be reassured that Council will continue to accept cash while it undertakes this 6 month trial which focuses on incentives for users who pay by card.

It is not Council’s intention to refuse entry to anyone who does not have a Card for payment.  Throughout the trial period from 1 September 2018 to 1 March 2019, cash payment will continue to be accepted during the following times;

• 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday
• 9am and 1pm, Saturday
• 10:30am – 3pm, Sunday

Outside these times; it will be card, memberships, fitness passport or multi visit passes only.

Using your card for payment helps Council to manage the costs of running the Centre.  Incentive discounts of up to $82 for a family 10 session swimming pass will be introduced to encourage people to pay by card including:
• 20% discount- Casual entry to the; pool, aqua class, gym, group fitness and dry courts,
• 20% discount - Casual group fitness / Fitness Classes and Senior Classes,
• 30% discount- All 10 pass visits

The results of the 6 month trial will be reported to Council in May 2019. We do hope that this trial period will help us address many of the concerns that people are feeling moving from cash to card, however any decision to make cashless payments a permanent feature, remains that of the whole Council.

This improvement is part of an overall strategic review of CentrePoint operations currently underway to make CentrePoint more efficient, accessible and convenient to encourage greater usage by the Blayney Shire and the surrounding community.  One proposal is for longer opening hours to the gym with access via a PIN Number and Membership swipe card, similar to that in larger regional centres that have 24 hour gyms.

To help Council best represent the views of CentrePoint members and customers, we are seeking your valuable feedback in a brief 2-3 minute survey that can be accessed by this link - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CentrePointSurvey The survey is open until 30 September.
