Future Delivery of Services in Blayney Shire Survey

In 2012, Blayney Shire Council undertook an extensive Future Delivery of Services Survey as part of the preparation process for the first Community Strategic Plan – Future Directions 2025.  This provided insight into the priorities of our residents and rate payers which in turn established the commitment and direction for Council to focus on renewing aged and failing infrastructure.

Since then we allocated resources and have undertaken significant capital projects repairing and maintaining our roads, replacing old timber bridges and upgrading community halls, sports grounds, buildings and public amenities.  Council has also invested time to prepare plans for major road improvement works such as Errowanbang Road and Browns Creek Road, Blayney Skatepark and CentrePoint Swimming Pool Refurbishment just to note a few, which is providing us with funding partnership opportunities with both State and Federal Governments.

The new Council, elected in 2017, has a responsibility to review the Community Strategic Plan along with the 4 year Delivery Program and Resourcing Strategy; which includes a Long Term Financial Plan, Workforce Management Plan and the Asset Management Plans for all of Councils assets including Roads and Transport Infrastructure, Sewer, Public Buildings and Parks and Recreation Facilities.

To facilitate this, Council has been engaging with local Town and Village Committees and Progress Associations and there are now individual Town and Village Community Plans for Blayney, Millthorpe, Lyndhurst, Mandurama, Carcoar, Neville, Newbridge and Barry with Hobbys Yards.  Identified in these Community Plans are the challenges ahead, the gaps and opportunities for each area with many projects that will add value to the livability and appeal to deliver the collective vision of each of our vibrant and proactive rural, heritage and tourist villages.

2012 was the yard stick of what services are important to you and how well they were being delivered at that point in time.  We would like to measure this again and ask that you take some time to help us and tell us what you think.  Are we delivering Council services to your expectations?  Have we improved in delivering Council services to you and your community?

Council will be taking this feedback into consideration as we prepare the new Future Directions for Blayney Shire.   We hope you will get involved - your views are valued and working together is how we will achieve great outcomes for the betterment and growth of the Shire.
