Join Winter Wonderland Festivities

Once again Winter Wonderland activities are planned across Blayney and Villages kicking off from Saturday 23 June with the Winter Solstice Festival on Gladstone Green, Newbridge hosted by the Newbridge Progress Association.

Now in its 4th year, local businesses, producers, tourism providers, local services, community and school groups are invited to come together as a community to promote your business, local produce and services by decorating your premises, providing special customer offers, hosting a special event, offering promotions by joining Winter Wonderland festivities this winter in your own special way.

In previous years, community and school groups have had great success with fundraising events, such as community movie nights. There have been ‘Christmas in July’ dinners and dancing with lots of fun the beat the winter blues. Villages may want to do a joint promotion or fundraiser.

You may choose to hold a pop-up shopping event, present a window display, competition, giveaways, offers, special meals/food, buy one get one free offers, discounted goods or services to coincide with the Winter Wonderland activities planned for 23 June – 30 July.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to embrace the change of season, get together and buy local to boost economic activity during a traditionally slower period.

The aim of the Winter Wonderland event is to encourage people to buy local, attract visitors to the area and bring locals together to socialise, embrace the season and discover what Blayney Shire has on offer.

When Launch to coincide with the Newbridge Winter Solstice Festival on 23 June 2018 from 12 noon. Activities will be promoted from the start of June and throughout July.

Who Blayney and surrounding village businesses - especially highly visible areas including the Mid Western Highway of Blayney and main streets of villages.

Support Council will join celebrations by decorating their Administration Office, CentrePoint and the main street. Council will be working with Towns & Villages Committees and businesses to announce the event and promote business participation.

All events and activities will be promoted under the “Winter Wonderland” in Blayney & Villages banner and advertising to support includes social media, Council’s website, media partnerships with the Blayney Chronicle, Discover magazine, Central West Lifestyle Magazine, What’s On events listings, regional news and radio programs.

Council has secured 2BS/ B-ROCK FM radio to broadcast live for 3 hours at the Newbridge Winter Solstice event on Saturday 23 June. There will be opportunities for business interviews and promotions at this event to kick-start the Winter Wonderland marketing campaign.

Regional tourism partners including Orange Region Tourism, Destination NSW and Centroc Tourism Group will support through their communications channels.
