As part of further improvements at CentrePoint Sport & Leisure Centre, Blayney Shire Council wishes to inform the community the pool area will temporarily close this July for the installation of a brand new air heating and ducting system.

Blayney Shire Council, General Manager, Rebecca Ryan said the 18 year old air heating system currently within the CentrePoint Pool area is has become dysfunctional and will need to be replaced to improve the overall swimming experience for our customers.

“Council has investigated the most appropriate and efficient solution exploring various ways to improve the pool environment. The best practice is to replace the old heating system with a new air conditioning unit and ducting system to meet Australian Standards,” Ms Ryan said.

“To ensure a safe environment for all customers and contractors during the upgrade, this requires the pool to be closed temporarily during winter. After careful consideration, a time has been chosen for the least amount of disruption to customers.”

“The upgrade will ensure greater sustainability of the pool area into the future. Council is continuing to seek opportunities for funding for further planned CentrePoint development work down the track,” Ms Ryan said.

After careful consideration, the pool area be closed temporarily from Monday 9 July and plans to reopen on Monday 10 September 2018.

Customers who have paid for their membership upfront that allows pool usage will have their membership extended for the time the pool is closed and unavailable.

Customers who pay their membership including pool usage on a monthly basis by Direct Debit will continue to pay their fee but have their membership extended for the time the pool is closed and unavailable.

Therefore, no one will be financially disadvantaged during the upgrade.

Payments for Learn to Swim and Squad classes will made on a pro-rata basis for the number of weeks available in term 3.

All other facilities within CentrePoint will open as ‘business as usual’, including the gym, group fitness classes, dry courts, school holiday activities and the new indoor inflatable fun park.

Free community walking groups are held through Blayney Shire Council’s involvement in the NSW Healthy Town Challenge. For details call, Council on 6368 2104.

CentrePoint is also offering the community a free trial at CentrePoint group fitness class during lunchtime this July to support the Blayney & Villages, Winter Wonderland festivities.

Council thanks the community for their patience during this important upgrade.
