New look Blayney & Villages Visitor Guide

 Take a fresh look FB

As part of Blayney Shire Council’s focus on tourism as one of the fastest growing sectors in our region, Council is seeking to redevelop some of our destination marketing material to promote the visitor offering within Blayney & Villages. The aim is to create a much simpler, clearer brand styling and design that still features “The Village Shire” logo and brand colours/ fonts but draws attention to a bigger, bolder ‘hero’ image. This will create a more contemporary feel but continue to focus on local villages, heritage and culture.
Community Banners
New Blayney & Villages ‘welcome banners’ will be featured on community banner poles around Blayney throughout December and January. The call to action this time will be for visitors and locals to “take a fresh look” featuring green and red apples (chosen as they also represent Christmas colours) and our #warmwelcome positioning. This will appeal to visiting friends and relatives, our biggest market over the Christmas and New Year period to discover something new and rediscover the area. The banner will also subtly support local farmers markets and local producers linking to the broader agritourism offering of the region.
Social media images
Cover images on Blayney Shire Council’s Facebook and Twitter pages will mirror the community banners to promote consistency across online and outdoor advertising.
New Look Blayney & Villages Visitor Guide
Council is embarking on a project to redesign the Blayney & Villages Visitor Guide. It will still be a handy A5 publication but will double the pages to around 60 pages, be more contemporary, less cluttered, bolder, featuring large photos of people enjoying what Blayney & Villages has to offer. It will be magazine style and designed and photographed to be keep sake featuring maps, day trip and 3-day weekend itineraries packaged for families and couples, local identities sharing their favourite hidden gems across the Shire and business listing advertising for a place to stay, eat + drink and see + do. While it is aimed to be the ‘go to’ guide for visitors, we believe local residents and regional communities will be just as enticed to have a ‘stay-cation’ to uncover or take a fresh look at the experiences on offer. An advertising prospectus was launched at the Tourism, Towns & Villages Committee meeting this week seeking tourism business to share the cost of production by advertising their visitor products and services.

How your tourism business can participate
Local businesses across Blayney Shire who cater to visitor needs including accommodation outlets, restaurants, cafes, events, attractions and general service providers are encouraged to book advertising space in the new look Blayney & Villages Visitor Guide.

Council has developed a Tourism Business Advertising Prospectus with more information and a simple preference application form. The project timeline outlines all advertising spaces to be confirmed by the deadline of 15 December 2017. Bookings will be taken based on suitability and a first come, first served basis.

Council is conducting a mini-roadshow to local villages from Thursday 30 November to engage and attract support from local tourism operators. We plan to launch the new Visitor Guide by February 2018. We appreciate your support and co-operation to act swiftly to take advantage of this collaboratively marketing initiative. The sooner we get your commitment, the sooner the Guide can hit the market to maximise its full potential as the 'go to' guide for visitor information.
These tourism projects will align and support the wider regional strategy of Orange Region Tourism as a gateway brand to disperse visitors to our villages.

This is very exciting for the local visitor economy as we evolve and grow, collaborating with local villages and our regional partners. We hope you will continue to embark on this journey together.

Feel free to contact Council on 6368 2104 or email to participate and find out more information.
