Media Release

Energy efficient heating and cooling is on the agenda for the Millthorpe Bowling Club thanks to a Community Building Partnership (CBP) grant from the NSW Government to replace old, energy consuming units.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole visited the club to deliver news of their successful application for $6380 which will be utilised to purchase the new heating and cooling units.

“A lot of our community clubs that have been around for many years have out dated and energy inefficient appliances which impose negative financial impacts on the clubs.

“The heating and cooling systems at the Millthorpe Bowling club have well and truly reached their use by dates. In addition to their higher consumption of power, the ability to heat and cool areas isn’t up to scratch.

“This CBP funding means not only a more comfortable environment for visitors, but savings on power bills that can be allocated to maintaining the bowling greens and facilities which benefits the wider Millthorpe community,” said Mr Toole.

Millthorpe Bowling Club Treasurer Gavan Wickes said the grant will enable them to install two new split system air conditioners which can both heat and cool the building.

“They use the latest power saving technology and replace three power hungry element heaters and the old air conditioning unit in the ceiling,” he said.

Mr Toole said the CBP is a program which forms a partnership with the NSW Government and community organisations to develop projects which could not proceed without funding support.

If you are a community based organisation with a project that will benefit your group and the wider community, he would encourage them to visit the website at to learn more about the program. Applications for the 2018 program will be called for in May this year.
