Blayney Interagency Group

The Blayney Interagency Group provides networking opportunities and direct access to service providers who operate within the Blayney area.

Part of the Blayney Interagency Group’s aims are to:

  • Solve issues through integration and multi service cooperation.
  • Avoid duplication of services
  • Increase service provider knowledge
  • Share resources where possible
  • Promote services to the community
  • Educate community regarding services and to facilitate access to services & guest speakers.
  • Identify gaps in services.
  • Indentify & facilitate possible lobbying opportunities

Guest speakers at each interagency meeting are engaged to provide information aboutic areas specific to interagency members and the community.

Wangarang Industries

Wangarang Industries is a not-for-profit Australian Disability Enterprise committed to providing training, support and employment for people with disabilities.

This is done in a variety of work settings including factory, textiles, horticulture, timber operations, mailing and mobile work crews. Wangarang provides a work preparation program for young school leavers with disabilities to assist them to make the transition from school to work. Wangarang also offeres individualised employment casework, counseling service, vocational assessment and career development.

Blayney Shire Can Assist

The purpose of Can Assist is to provide financial assistance and care to cancer patients and their families throughout out network of branches and accommodation. The formation of the Blayney branch is to raise funds to provide direct financial assistance to cancer patients and their families. Assistance varies from medication expenses to electricity accounts, fuel, food vouchers and hospital costs. All requests are confidential and referrals are made via our social workers, Daffodil cottage or GP's.

 

Blayney Family Medical Practice

The Blayney Family Medical Practice provides comprehensive healthcare for the whole family. Our practice currently comprises two doctors and operates as part of HealthOne Blayney - which ensures access to a range of primary healthcare services.

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre

The Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre was established to provide confidential. free information about community aged care, disability and other support services.
Centres have local knowledge about:

  • The range of services available and how to contact them
  • Who is eligible to receive services and whether there are any costs involved
  • Aged care assessment services for access to community and residential care
  • The centre also coordinates access for carers to respite services in the local area and works with the carer to develop a planned approach to respite and other support needs. The centre can also provide access to Emergency respite care.

Community Transport

Community Transport provides safe, comfortable transport for disabled, aged and disadvantaged people and their carers. The aim of the scheme is to enable people to remain living in their own homes and at the same time maintain their various activities in the local community. Being partially Government funded, an initial registration process applies. Door to door transport is available for any purpose including day care, shopping, hospital or medical appointments.

Community Transport within Blayney Shire is provided by Carewest Transport.

CareWest Child and Family Services

Carewest Child and Family Services offer a number of services that operate throughout the Central West, Orana, the Far West and Riverina Murray Areas. The service has offices in Orange, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga.

Preschool Investment and Reform Plan

Assisting Preschools to provide more places for children in the Central West and Orana Far West Areas.

Intensive Family Support

The Intensive Family Support Program is a support service for families that have a child or adolescent (0-17 years) with a diagnosed disability. The service is for families who are in a high level of stress of crisis. It is particularly suited for families that are at risk of requiring a placement for their child or where there are child protection or safety issues. The staff work intensively with families to develop sustainable family routines and support mechanisms.

Early start Diagnosis Support Program

The time of diagnosis of a disability in a child can be a very confusing and emotionally overwhelming for both parents and their families. The ESDS program provides support at this time which can be critical to understanding the nature and implications of the disability and in accessing appropriate services. The program is individually tailored serving families in the Central West, Orana Far West and Riverina Murray areas.

Indigenous Language Support Program

The Indigenous Language Support (ILS) Program is a new initiative which aims to provide accredited training to indigenous participants who in turn can use these skills within their community to assist children to develop good language skills from a younger age. The ILS program will be conducted in Orange and Dubbo.

 Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Strategy            

The Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Strategy (AMIHS) provides for a Midwife or Aboriginal Health Worker to provide support and advocacy with antenatal care in the clients home and through weekly visits for 8 weeks post natal.

AMIHS is also involved in community development activities that provide a holistic approach to developing the health and wellbeing of Aborginal Women and their families. AMIHS is primary health care focused.

Evans Community Options

Evans Community Options provides in home services to support people who wish to remain living in their own homes and access the community in which they live. This is done through the following programs:

Case Management: Assistance to seek and implement the services required for people with disabilities, frail aged people and their carers with high complex support needs.

Respite: For people under the age of 65 years. Flexible respite options to give their carer a break
Neighbour Aid: Provide social support opportunities for people who are socially isolated
Com Packs: To assist any person in a public hospital that needs assistance to get home and remain safely at home.
Viva Packs: For any person receiving cancer treatment who require short term assistance to remain at home.
