Sculptures By The Bush Competition

Event Information

This year the Hay Bale Challenge is expanding to an all-inclusive ‘Sculptures by the Bush’ event which will cover the whole of Blayney Shire with a variety of different programs to get involved in. The event will have three different categories for residents to enter in including the Hay Bale Art Challenge, a Farm Art Challenge and the Scarecrow Competition. 

Hay Bale Art Challenge
The Hay Bale Challenge will continue where entrants will create sculptures primarily out of hay while using a variety of artistic resources such as paint, cardboard, fabric, wood and other recycled materials.

Farm Art Challenge

A new Farm Art Challenge will provide farmers and community groups a chance to get involved and make sculptures out of any farm related resource providing those with limited hay a chance to participate.

Scarecrow Challenge
2020 will also bring a new Scarecrow Challenge providing all residents, especially those living in town the opportunity to get involved.

How to Enter
To enter, local residents, schools and community groups are encouraged to decorate a hay bale, create a sculpture using farm related resources or make a hay bale art sculpture to be displayed on private property. Forms can be completed online here or collected from the Blayney Shire Council Office.

Prizes:
Artwork will be judged with cash prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in each category.

Hay Bale Art Challenge
1st - $300
2nd - $200
3rd - $100

Farm Art Challenge
1st - $300
2nd - $200
3rd - $100

Scarecrow Challenge
1st - $100
2nd - $75
3rd - $50

‘People’s Choice Award’:
A ‘People’s Choice Award’ will be awarded to the entry who gets the most likes in the competition on the Sculptures by the Bush Facebook page.

People Choice Award winners will receive the following
Hay Bale Art Challenge - $100
Farm Art Challenge - $100
Scarecrow Competition - $50

Eligible Locations:
All sculptures regardless of location will be included on the map.

Displays:
Displays are open to imagination. There is no need to have artwork themed.

Blayney Shire Council will assist with marked flags, banners, signage, maps, media relations, and social media to promote the location of your artwork and increase awareness of Sculptures by the Bush.  

Winners:  
 
Winners will be contacted by telephone and announced on Thursday 9 July on Facebook and in the Blayney Chronicle.

Conditions of Entry

  1. By registering for the event, entrants agree to have photographs of their sculpture and personal contact details used for promotional purposes.
  2. All decisions by judges as to the winners will be final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  3. Entrants must reside in the Blayney Shire
  4. Entrants may only submit one entry in each category
  5. The entry must be the original work of the artist
  6. Council reserve the right to remove inappropriate artworks from promotions and the competition.
