Complying Development Certificate (CDC)

Complying development is a combined planning (DA) and construction (CC) approval for straightforward development that can be determined through a fast-track assessment by a Council or an accredited certifier

Complying development applies to homes, businesses and industry and allows for a range of things like the construction of a new dwelling house, alterations and additions to an existing house, new industrial buildings, demolition of a building, and changes to a business use.

What you will need to include in your application:
  • A plan of the land existing and proposed (site plan drawn to scale or survey plan);
  • Elevation Plans (a set of plans of what the development will look like from each side);
  • Structural Plans (designed a suitably qualified structural engineer);
  • Geotechnical Assessment Reports (if applicable ie. Land not connected to reticulated sewer);
  • BASIX certificate;
  • Cost of construction works estimate.
Other plans or documents may be applicable depending on the proposal. Upon applying for a CDC, Council will contact you during the completeness check if it identifies more documentation is required.

For more information regarding CDC applications see NSW Planning Portal.
