Planning an Event

Blayney Shire Council is committed to working with organisations and community groups to deliver safe, accessible, well-managed and well-promoted events.  

If you are conducting a Public Event you must complete an Event Management Application in accordance with the Blayney Shire Event Planning Guide. Requirements for events can vary based on the location, size and nature of the event. We advise anyone planning an event within Blayney Shire contact Council as early as possible to provide tailored advice about your event and what is required for it to go ahead. 

All Event Applications must be accompanied by the following documentation:

• Blayney Shire Council Event Application Form
• Copy of Notice of Intention to hold a Public Assembly lodgement with the NSW Police;
• Certificate of Currency Public Liability Insurance with a minimum coverage of $20 million;
• Event Risk Assessment; and
• Site Plan

Depending on the scale and nature of the event, Event Applications may also require the following additional applications or approvals:

• Traffic Control Plan
• Development Application
• Filming Proposal
• Alcohol/Liquor License 
• Temporary Suspension of an Existing Alcohol Restricted Area
• Road Closure/Traffic Management Plan
• Temporary Food/Drink Stall Application Form

• Accessible and Inclusive Events: The NSW Government has also developed a toolkit for accessible and inclusive events. You can download it here.
• Road Closures: Transport for NSW has prepared a fact sheet to assist organisers of events in NSW, to understand the traffic and transport management requirements, when planning special events.
• Promotion: To help with the promotion of your event you can complete our event promotion form.
• Funding: Depending on the event, you may be eligible for a funding grant through the Tourism Development Program or reimbursement of Council fees and charges through the Community Financial Assistance Program.

Food / Drink Stall List - Blayney LGA Approvals 

All temporary food / drink stalls at an event must have a Temporary Food / Drink Stall approval from Blayney Shire Council. Generally approvals are provided for the calendar year. 

To assist event organisers, approved food / drink stalls that are based out of Blayney Shire and and the surrounding LGAs (Orange, Cabonne, Cowra & Bathurst) are listed below.
