  • Blayney Shire Council seeks amendment to section 10 declaration. - Council has obtained specialist legal advice, to understand the implications of the s10 declaration for Council in its capacity as the Roads Authority for Dungeon Road. Following receipt of this legal advice, Council has proceeded to write to Minister Plibersek, identifying that an amendment is required to the s10 declaration.

  • Central West Councils welcome grant to prepare Drought Resilience Plan - Five Central West Councils, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Orange and Weddin, are joining forces in collaboration with the NSW and Australian governments to support their local communities and businesses during future droughts through the Regional Drought Resilience Planning Program. Recognising the importance of proactive measures, the five Central West Councils are collaborating on the development of a Central West Regional Drought Resilience Plan. This comprehensive plan aims to bolster community and business preparedness, response capabilities, and recovery strategies in the face of drought challenges.
  • Council provides additional funding for weed control - At the Council Meeting on 20 February, Blayney Shire Council approved an additional $25,000 to Central Tablelands Weeds Authority (CTWA) to complete section 1 of a 3-year weed spraying program in Blayney Shire. CTWA are a County Council responsible for weed control and management encompasses the areas of Blayney Shire, Bathurst Regional, Lithgow City and Oberon Councils.
  • Council supports TEN4TEN Leadership Program - At the Council Meeting on 20 February, Blayney Shire Council approved $1,500 of annual funding towards the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Central West TEN4TEN Leadership Dialogue. The TEN4TEN Leadership Dialogue connects ten selected Year 11 students from Blayney, Cabonne and Orange Local Government Areas with ten local community leaders for a unique mentoring experience. The program was launched by RDA Central West in 2020 with the aim of connecting youth leaders with community champions for a unique mentoring experience.
  • Cr Pryse Jones Resignation - Councillor Michelle Pryse Jones has resigned from Blayney Shire Council, effective as of 1 January 2025. Councillor Pryse Jones served on Council since December 2021 and was a Council appointed representative to several committees including the Central Tablelands Weeds Authority. Mayor Bruce Reynolds thanked Councillor Pryse Jones for her service to Council and the community.
