  • Australia Day 2024 Award Winners Announced - Blayney Shire Council hosted the 2024 Australia Day Awards at Heritage Park, Blayney. The day commenced with a free BBQ community breakfast, followed by the Citizenship and Awards Ceremony in the amphitheatre.
  • Australia Day Ambassador announced for 2024 - Our 2024 Australia Day Ambassador this year is Ron Delezio. Co-Founder & Co-Director of Day of Difference Foundation, Ron Delezio came to be publicly known after his daughter Sophie was involved in two catastrophic accidents in December 2003 and subsequently in May 2005.
  • A-Z Waste and Recycling Guide - Not sure what items go in which bin? The A-Z waste info sheet includes a fairly comprehensive list of everything accepted in each of Blayney’s bins, as well as alternative disposal options such as the Blayney Waste Facility.
  • Council to Proceed with Special Rate Variation Application - Media Release 24 January 2024 - Blayney Shire Council at the ordinary council meeting held on the 23 January 2024 has resolved to submit an application for a Special Rate Variation (SRV) of 10% per annum for 3 consecutive years to the NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART). At the meeting, Council was presented with a Community Awareness and Engagement Report following the 35 days of community engagement over November – December 2023.
  • Council Update - In response to environmental challenges, Central West LGA’s (Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Orange, Weddin) are working on the development of a Regional Drought Resilience Plan (funded by the NSW Government) and we need you.
  • EOIs Open for additional pre-approved Road Names - We are looking to expand and diversify the names on our pre-approved list and are asking the community to nominate names and provide supporting information for consideration.
  • Over 30 business people turned out for the inaugural Blayney Shire Business Chamber event - Blayney Shire business people turned out in force for the inaugural activity of the newly-registered Blayney Shire Business Chamber. Your Blueprint for Business, funded by a NSW Small Business Month grant and auspiced by the Blayney Shire Council, featured guest speaker Danica Bunch sharing her insights on PR for small business.
  • Plastic Free July - Plastic Free July is recognised globally as an annual month of global change, where individuals, businesses and governments come together to take action to reduce plastic waste. By sharing ideas, positive actions and stories of change, Plastic Free July helps people and organisations “choose to refuse” single-use plastic everyday.
  • Platform Arts Hub Blayney Welcomes New Management by Sidetrack Arts - Platform Arts Hub Blayney, housed within the renovated 1876 heritage-listed Blayney Railway Station, is thrilled to announce a new chapter under the coordination of Sidetrack Arts Inc (Sidetrack) with funding support from Blayney Shire Council. Sidetrack is a newly founded artist-run initiative, made up of local Blayney and Central West visual artists and musicians. With a shared commitment to fostering and celebrating regional artistic talent, Sidetrack aims to provide a creative community-based platforms for local and regional artists to develop and showcase their practice.
  • Proposed Road Closure - Proposed road closing under section 38B Roads ACT 1993. In pursuance of the provisions of the Roads Act 1993, notice is hereby given that Blayney Shire Council proposes to close the council public road listed in Schedule 1.
  • Reconnecting events branded a success - Last week a series of art workshops were held at the Platform Arts Hub hosted by Sidetrack Arts. These workshops were the final events which were 100% funded under the Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Event Program (RRNSW). This program announced by the NSW Government in March 2022 provided Blayney Shire Council with $239,641 specifically to host a series of community events.
  • Sculptures by the Bush - Sculptures by the Bush is on again now for 2024! Click here to find the digital map and list of entries. Sculptures will be up until 5 May.
  • Survey Open - Drought Resilience Planning Project - In response to environmental challenges, Central West LGA’s (Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Orange, Weddin) are working on the development of a Regional Drought Resilience Plan (funded by the NSW Government) and we need you. This Regional Drought Resilience Plan (RDRP) aims to identify innovative approaches to address the impacts of drought, to ensure that these communities are well equipped to face the challenges of drought and climate vulnerability. Drought resilience isn’t just about water and farming; it's about safeguarding the livelihoods, well-being, and future of our regional communities. It is important that the whole community is engaged to create the RDRP as drought impacts every part of regional communities. Your insights will guide the development of our Regional Drought Resilience Plan, ensuring that it addresses the specific needs and concerns of our residents and fosters a sense of ownership and commitment among us all. Together, we will build a more resilient Central West region.
