Dash Dorsett awarded Blayney Shire Music Scholarship

The Blayney Shire Music Scholarship is awarded to a students aged between 7 and 18 who live in the Blayney Shire and wish to further their music studies.

Eight-year-old Dash Dorsett was recently named as the 2022 scholarship recipient.  Dash has been undertaking piano studies at the Orange Regional Conservatorium (ORC) under the guidance of head piano teacher David Shaw since October 2020.

Mr Shaw said ‘Dash has only been learning piano for just over 12 months, but has shown amazing energy and enthusiasm for learning and performing. His first concert was only a few weeks after his first lesson and he has persevered through COVID lockdowns without losing any interest’.

Mr Shaw also added, ‘Dash is constantly progressing his repertoire, and his expressive knowledge is growing as he explores dynamics and articulation aspects of music making. He is a delight to teach!’.

Blayney Shire Mayor Scott Ferguson said, ‘It’s wonderful to see the scholarship awarded to such a dedicated and talented young man like Dash. I’m looking forward to hearing him play on the new baby grand piano at the Blayney Shire Community Centre’.

Dash would like to thank Blayney Shire Council, Orange Regional Conservatorium and JPA Business for sponsoring and supporting his music studies.
